Great for your little kitchen helper

After reading several negative reviews on this toy I thought I'd include in mine the biggest possible reason these children/parents are not enjoying it == the appropriate age to really appreciate and use this toy properly is 2+ since at this age kids can understand the concepts behind a kitchen. Our daughter has always been facinated with pots, food, kitchen sounds, etc., and this adorable little version is just perfect for her as she learns what sounds and sights you find at home. It is less than 2 ft. high, so kids have to bend down to play, or just sit down in front, which is not a problem for most kids once they get really involved in playing. The make believe milk, cheese and egg are cute and they have their storage places inside the fridge and cabinet. There is even a separately sold 4-pack of items including a pan, pepper shaker, cordless phone and measuring spoons. One criticism is that there is no place to hang the measuring spoons or cordless phone, so they disappeared rather quickly, but Little Tikes sent us a full replacement pack FREE OF CHARGE within two weeks.

My daughter adores the sounds this kitchen makes: bubbling, popping, and ringing for the stove, microwave and frying pan. It will tip over if your kids lean on it, but with supervised playtime, this is a great little item which stores neatly and quickly, and should keep them happy long enough for you to at least tidy up in your own REAL kitchen.
Lots of fun

My daughter (& my son) has lots of fun with this kitchen. She got it at about 8 months & still plays with it every day almost a year later. We also bought an accessory set that has a pan, salt shaker, & utensils. She doesn't always cook with it, but she has lots of fun stuffing things into the microwave, oven, & refrigerator. The door comes off fairly easily, but just snaps back in, so I don't think it's a big deal. We're very happy with it.
Great Toy!

With any toy, a child first needs guidance and of course supervison. My daughter got this at 10 months and fell in love with it. When we first got it we played along with her and now she sits and plays by herself. She just needed someone to show her about playing "pretend". She "cooks" things up now and gives them to us to try (she is now 11 months). It's about learning no matter how simple the tasks. She loves trying to put whatever is handy in the fridge, oven and microwave parts. The door does come off but it's not dangerous. It only snaps in and out and it's all soft plastic. My daughter will try to yank the door off on purpose. She thinks it's funny. She can also tip it over but again she does it on purpose. There isn't much weight to it so it's no danger to someone of her age. I think the best age range for this would be 9 - 18 months.
Domestic Fun!

Our daughter received this on her first birthday and truly enjoys "pretending to be Mummy." At first she was afraid of the boiling sound of the stove, but that's only because it turns red and I taught her to be cautious around our hot stove. She especially likes the music from the sink and the oven and we dance in the kitchen as it plays. When I make toast, she'll run over to her kitchen and press the toast several times. When I'm making eggs, she "makes eggs" too. When I make grilled cheese, she pulls out the cheese. I think it's a fun toy and our daughter seems to enjoy it, too.
Awesome toy!

After reading many positive reviews on Amazon.com, I decided to order this toy since my daughter loves to open and shut things. She will play with this toy for literally an hour at a time and always gravitates toward it first in the morning. It has great sounds and music, and the opening and closing doors all over it are so neat. Only issue is that it does tip over easily, so I try to lean it against something so that she won't pull it over. This is WELL worth the money and is so cheap on Amazon.com. I love this toy!!
